A man whose body was pulled from the Allegheny River in Plum on Sept. 1 died accidentally from drowning, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner.

Shawn M. Ferraccio, 46, of Washington Township, was found dead in the river shortly before 10:30 a.m. after police responded to the 100 block of Coxcomb Hill Road.

Authorities said they were alerted to a body floating in the river by someone who called 911.

The medical examiner identified Ferraccio as the victim a week after his body was recovered.

Ferraccio was arrested by Arnold police in February while making a controlled drug buy for narcotics agents when he tried to keep some of the cash he had been given along with some of the heroin he bought.

He was awaiting trial on felony charges in connection with that case when he drowned.
