Springdale residents on Thursday will get a chance to learn more about an upcoming bridge demolition at the former power plant.

The 6 p.m. meeting, held at the borough building, is focused on the demolition of a trestle bridge over Pittsburgh Street, overnight road closures and detours.

“The meeting is a question-and-answer session for any and all questions regarding the upcoming trestle demolition project, traffic detours and any other questions or concerns related to this project,” police Chief Derek Dayoub said.

According to the borough, speakers include representatives from property owner CPERG or Charah Solutions, demolition contractor Grant Mackay Co. and borough police. CPERG is a subsidiary of Charah Solutions and has been decommissioning and remediating the power plant site since it ceased operations in 2022.

The trestle was built about 100 years ago to provide a continuous supply of coal from the former Harwick Mine to the power plant without affecting traffic on Pittsburgh Street.
