Roundup: 3 stabbed in Mellon Park; Car crashes into New Kensington Denny's

3 people stabbed in Mellon Park
Two men are in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest near Pittsburgh’s Mellon Park playground, authorities said.
Police were called at about 12:45 a.m. to the park along Fifth Avenue, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.
There, they found three men injured. The third man was stabbed in the wrist. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said.
Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.
Police said a vehicle at the scene was towed for further processing.
Car crashes into Denny’s in New Kensington
No injuries were reported Monday after a vehicle crashed into the Denny’s restaurant in New Kensington.
Emergency crews responded at about 11:30 a.m. to the incident along Tarentum Bridge Road.
Westmoreland County dispatchers said a female driver “drove through the front door.”
New Kensington police, fire and EMS responded.
A manager who answered the phone Tuesday morning said the diner is fully operational.
The glass is boarded but the restaurant is open for dine-in, the manager said.
Man charged with sex assault on South Side
A Pittsburgh man was charged with aggravated assault and criminal attempt of rape two months after an incident outside Carson Towers on the city’s South Side.
William Hercules, 27, is accused of attacking a woman by pushing her to the ground and covering her mouth while sexually assaulting her, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
Police said the victim used her Life Alert button to call for help. Hercules ran off when he heard a dispatcher’s voice through the device.
The victim suffered a broken pelvis and broken back during the attack.
Police filed an arrest warrant Monday.
