Multiple injuries in 4-vehicle crash on Greensburg Road in Lower Burrell
Multiple people were injured in a four-vehicle crash along Greensburg Road in Lower Burrell Tuesday afternoon.
A small white school bus, a Cadillac Escalade, a Ford SUV and a white box truck collided near the intersection of Greensburg Road and Atlantic Avenue by East Coast Used Cars shortly before 3 p.m.
Lower Burrell Rescue Capt. Christopher Borland said medics treated several people at the scene. At least one person was transported to a hospital by ambulance. Another had to be extracted from one of the vehicles.
The school bus was carrying students from the Burrell School District. Neither the students nor the driver suffered any injury, Burrell superintendent Shannon Wagner said Tuesday night.
Lower Burrell Police officer Aaron Rodgers said a preliminary investigation indicates the box truck was traveling eastbound along the 1200 block of Greensburg Road when it struck the Ford, which then hit the Cadillac. One of those vehicles then went into the westbound lane and hit the small bus.
Rodgers said the bus was able to be driven away and the other three vehicles had to be towed.
Traffic was rerouted through a car wash business. The road was reopened around 4 p.m.
The crash is still under investigation.
