Two roads at the Pittsburgh Mills mall will be repaved this month, starting a process Frazer officials hope to see continue.

Crews will descend upon Village Center and Galleria drives starting Nov. 17.

The outbound lane of Village Center will be closed Nov. 17-18, while the inbound lane will close Nov. 19-20.

Both lanes of Galleria Drive will close Nov. 21.

Drivers will be detoured onto Pittsburgh Mills Circle during the repaving.

The work comes after Frazer Zoning Officer Bill Payne issued hundreds of citations against Namdar, the mall’s owner, for the pothole-riddled roads and alleged building code violations.

“This is the start to a solution but not the end,” Payne said.

Namdar previously patched several potholes on Pittsburgh Mills Boulevard and Village Center Drive, but Payne said the only long-term solution is to repave the surfaces.

With winter approaching, however, he said he doesn’t anticipate further repaving work to begin until March or April.

Come spring, Payne said it would be the township’s intention to push Namdar to repave all of the roads.

“That’s what neglect will get you,” he said.

Frazer Police Chief Aaron Scott said Village Center is a “priority route” for repaving, citing it as a “main artery” of the complex.

The work was initially supposed to begin next week but was delayed because of weather concerns, he said.

Though the repaving may be inconvenient for drivers, Scott said he’s glad to see the work on the horizon.

A Namdar representative did not respond to request for comment.
