Feast on Brilliant in Aspinwall is expanding into the building next door on Brilliant Avenue, creating a cafe dining area for customers.

A specialty food store in Aspinwall is expanding with a new casually-themed cafe.

Feast on Brilliant, owned by Patti Danforth, is re-branding itself into a “feast gourmet market and eatery,” Danforth said.

“The new cafe side is a warm and inviting family space, which we hope appeals to all ages. After 10 years of growing each year, we feel we’ve filled a need and have so many wonderful clients we now call friends,” Danforth said.

Danforth began renovations at Feast, located at 27 Brilliant Ave., in January and is set to open the cafe the first week of June.

The new space will feature booth seating, a kitchen and service counter.

Two large reclaimed wooden barn doors slide open to create an open market between the existing shop and the new cafe side.

The cafe will be available for private dinners.

A wood bar top repurposed from an old tree from Upper Aspinwall is in the works, designed by Urban Tree, a woodworking supply store in Pittsburgh.

“I’m so excited to have a place for my customers to come and be social with one another. It’s been a long two years of social distancing. Customers are excited to have a place to sit an enjoy their food and friends,” Danforth said.

Beginning at 8 a.m., customers can nosh on specialty breakfast items that include frittatas, savory pastries, breakfast burritos, granola and yogurt parfaits, fresh seasonal fruit and more.

Longtime Feast customer Elizabeth Kline, of Aspinwall, said she’s always been thrilled to have a specialty food store she could walk to from her residence.

Her family loves the brownies, pressed sandwiches and homemade soups.

“She fed us through the pandemic when some staples were hard to source. Patti has always made her store a delightful place to visit with my children. We’re looking forward to coffee and beignets for breakfast in the new dining space,” Kline said. “Everything from Feast is a treat.”

Bethanie Stein said having another eatery option in Aspinwall is welcomed.

“I’m really excited for Patti and the expansion. We love that she is giving this space to sit and enjoy great food with our neighbors,” Stein said.
