A traffic restriction on the New Kensington Bridge begins Saturday in East Deer and New Kensington, weather permitting.

A routine inspection will restrict traffic to a single, alternating lane on the bridge. Crews from the Markosky Engineering Group will perform the inspection.

The traffic restriction will be in place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. November 16.

The 1,528-foot-long bridge spans the Allegheny River between New Kensington and East Deer. It opened in 1927 and is used by about 15,000 motorists a day, according to Penn-DOT records.
