A winning Powerball ticket worth $2 million for the May 22 drawing was sold in New Kensington.

The ticket with the Power Play option matched all of the five white balls drawn, 07-10-20-44-57, but not the red Powerball 03, to win $2 million. Without the $1 Power Play option, the ticket would have been worth $1 million. The Power Play multiplier drawn was two. It was sold at the Donut Connection, 100 Tarentum Bridge Road, New Kensington. They earn a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Owner Sue Pajerski said she was excited to hear someone won, but she doesn’t know who it was yet.

“I hope it’s somebody local,” she said.

She said they’ve been selling lottery tickets there for about 15 years and have several regular customers who play.

“Most of the time, they’re sitting in the booth eating and they buy a couple scratch-offs,” she said. “Then you have the ones who buy every day.”

Pajerski said they’ve never sold a winning ticket worth so much.

She said they’ll likely use the $10,000 to make improvements to the store.

“We’ve been here 34 years,” she said. “There’s things that need updated.”
