A New Kensington man charged with four counts of attempted homicide in connection with shots that were fired at an occupied car in December in New Kensington has been arrested.

Letresse Tareke Williams, 29, was arrested late Tuesday night or early Wednesday by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Warrant Team and New Kensington police, according to the Westmoreland County Detective Bureau.

According to the arrest papers that city police filed against Williams, the shooting happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at Valley Royal Court.

According to the complaint, three people were inside the parked car while one was standing outside of it.

Police said the car’s driver told them Williams approached and started saying something. After a woman outside the car said something back, the driver said Williams backed up and shot at the car.

The woman outside the car told police Williams “said something to her about not being from around here, and that they shoot.” The woman told police she said something back, but would not tell them exactly what she had said.

The car was hit by four bullets, and a van parked next to it was hit twice, the arrest report states. Police recovered spent .45-caliber bullet shells at the scene, about 30 feet away from the car.

In addition to attempted homicide, Williams is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of recklessly endangering another person and a firearms violation.

Williams was arraigned Wednesday before District Frank J. Pallone Jr. and sent to the Westmoreland County jail after being denied bail.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Pallone at 10:45 a.m. Feb. 20.
