New Kensington police are warning people not to leave their vehicles running while unoccupied after a number of thefts were reported.

City police posted the notice on social media Wednesday morning noting that a specific area of concern is the Sheetz in the 300 block of Freeport Street, where several vehicles were stolen during the past month. The cases all remain under investigation, they said.

Police said all of the thefts occurred when drivers left their vehicles running and the doors unlocked.

They advise motorists to turn their vehicles off and lock the doors when they are unattended.
