Westmoreland County detectives continue to investigate the circumstances that led New Kensington police to fatally shoot a man Friday.

Detective John Clark said the county district attorney’s office investigators are still interviewing witnesses and following up on information regarding the incident.

Officers responded to multiple calls reporting a man with a shotgun walking along Fourth Street in Parnassus at about 2:30 p.m.

Arnold and Lower Burrell officers also responded to the area and found Marc Morgan, 62, no address released, walking up a hill on Center Avenue with a shotgun.

New Kensington police said officers fired upon Morgan after he brandished the shotgun at the officers.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office staff.

Neither Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck nor New Kensington police Chief Robert Deringer could not be reached for comment Saturday.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact New Kensington police at 724-339-7533, the Westmoreland County Detective Bureau at 724-830-3287 or the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office at 724-830-3636.
