New Kensington plans to resurface parts of four city streets this year.

The city will mill and resurface the following streets:

• Carl Avenue, from Route 366 to Craigdell Road.

• Freeport Road, from 7th Street to Short Street.

• Short Street, from Freeport Road to Ridge Avenue.

• Locust Street, from Freeport Road to Victoria Avenue.

The part of Carl Avenue included in the project is heavily used by drivers avoiding the traffic light at Tarentum Bridge and Leechburg roads and has been notorious for its poor condition for years. In August 2018, someone spray-painted “Please Fix Me” on it.

A waterline was installed under the road last year.

New Kensington is accepting bids until 10 a.m. June 1, after which they will be opened and read in the meeting room at city hall, 301 11th St.

The city’s engineering firm, Alpha Engineering, is overseeing the project.
