New Kensington woman accuses man of forcing his way into home, trying to suffocate her

New Kensington police arrested a man after a woman accused him of forcing his way into her apartment and trying to suffocate her with a blanket when she began screaming.

Lee Williams, 19, of Linden Avenue in McKees Rocks was charged with a felony count of burglary along with strangulation and defiant trespass, according to court records.

He is being detained in the Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond. Williams faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on Thursday, May 19.

Police responding to a April 28 call for a domestic dispute at the Valley Royal Court apartments on Fifth Avenue said Williams and the woman were arguing outside the building when they arrived about 11:15 a.m., according to a criminal complaint.

The woman told police that a week before the apartment building’s manager issued a no- trespassing order against Williams.

She said Williams forced his way into her apartment when she opened the door, and they began arguing, the complaint said.

Williams began pushing her around and, when she began screaming, he placed a blanket over her head to muffle the noise, she said.

The woman accused Williams of pressing the blanket against her mouth so tightly that she couldn’t breathe and telling her to “go to sleep,” the complaint said.

Police said the building’s property manager was contacted and confirmed that Williams was sent a written notice ordering him to stay out of the building.
