A new mayor and council member who were elected last year in Lower Burrell were sworn in during a reorganization meeting Monday.

A political newcomer, Rosina Albanese, 27, was sworn into office Monday by Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Chris Scherer. The city’s new mayor, John Andrejcik, also was sworn in along with incumbent Councilman Chris Fabry, Controller Tony Farina and Treasurer Brian Eshbaugh.

A Republican, Albanese captured 32% of the vote in the Nov. 5 election. Council voted her in as director of Parks and Public Property and Andrejcik was voted in as chair of the Department of Public Affairs. Fabry will continue as director of Accounts and Finance.

Previously, council met for their agenda and regular meeting on the same day – the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. Council agreed during their reorganization meeting Monday to instead meet on the first Monday of the month for their agenda meeting and the second Monday of the month for their regular meeting. Both meetings will start at 7 p.m. and will be held at City Hall, 115 Schreiber St.
