Allegheny Township’s new manager is a township resident and was a longtime employee of New Kensington’s municipal authority.
Supervisors this week hired Marci Bigley as township manager at an annual salary of $87,500, said Supervisors Chairman Jamie Morabito. Bigley started the role Tuesday, Feb. 10.
Her contract is for two years, Morabito said. She will work full time.
“She’s very multi-talented, very rounded with her skill level,” Morabito said. “We were very fortunate to bring her in.”
Bigley was born and raised in New Kensington and moved to Allegheny Township about 19 years ago. She has worked for New Kensington’s municipal authority as its office manager for nearly 30 years.
“I was ready for a change and a challenge,” she said. “I am looking forward to both of those in my new role at Allegheny Township.”
The township was in the market for a new manager after supervisors were unable to reach a contract with outgoing manager Daniel Miller. Miller was hired in July 2024 and, at that time, was paid $102,000 annually.
“Her background in finance, management and all the skill sets that come with her 30 years of municipal experience is one of the main reasons we did this,” Morabito said. “We were really looking for someone who had a vested interest in Allegheny Township.”
He said Bigley’s being a township resident gives her much-needed knowledge for the job.
“They not only interact with residents on a daily and weekly basis, they’re approachable in daily interactions outside of the municipal building,” he said.
“It says a lot and means a lot with their decisions moving forward with the township, and the transparency.”
