No injuries were reported after a fire broke out Monday morning in a two-story Leechburg home but two dogs inside the home were killed.
A female occupant who lived alone at the residence was at work when a fire broke out in the kitchen, said Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company safety officer Tom Foster.
Foster said the fire appears to be accidental.
No other neighboring structures were damaged, and the fire was contained to the home.
Fire crews responded at around 10:20 a.m. to the fire at 147 Summit St. and had the flames extinguished by 11:01 a.m. Crews cleared the scene around noon, Foster said.
A neighbor initially reported the fire, and the dogs died from smoke inhalation, Foster said.
Hyde Park, Leechburg, Allegheny Township, Parks and West Leechburg fire companies, along with Lower Kiski Ambulance, responded.
