A fire broke out early Friday morning in a home in West Leechburg.

The West Leechburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call just after 6:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Orchard Lane, according to Westmoreland 911 dispatch.

“Within minutes the chief was on scene with the engine/tanker behind him with a crew and cleared the scene fast with the assistance of mutual aid companies before more extensive damage was done,” the fire department posted on Facebook.

Photos posted by the fire department showed a two-story building, with charred marks, debris and holes in the walls of the residence.

In a separate post, the department asked the community to use caution around Summit Street and consider taking an alternative route when commuting.

The fire was cleared by 7:30 a.m., police said.

Everyone who was inside the building made it out safely, according to the fire department’s post.

The cause of the fire was unclear Friday morning.
