Now that this year's to-do list is done, Brackenridge looks toward 2020 projects
Now that Brackenridge’s public works projects for this year are completed, borough officials are looking at next year’s wish list.
The borough hopes to get $25,000 from the federal Community Development Block Grant Fund to install handicapped sidewalk ramps at various intersections.
Brackenridge also is seeking $60,000 for demolishing abandoned buildings at 841 Eighth Ave., 1059 Cleveland Ave., 1038 Third Ave. and 1005 rear Brackenridge Ave.
Council also hopes to install a new furnace at the borough’s water plant. Officials favor bids from Air Pure and Schafer’s Carrier, but council wants a clarification on the warranties.
The Roup Avenue sewer replacement project is completed at $5,000 under the budgeted amount of $106,000.
Also, new paving was completed on Nelson and Willow streets by the public works department.
“They did a nice job on the paving we got money for from the COG (Council of Governments),” said council President Timothy Connelly. “Those couple of roads were in bad shape.”
