Oakmont Council ratified a collective bargaining agreement between the borough and the union representing the Oakmont Street Department and Wastewater Treatment Plant employees Tuesday night.
The four-year agreement with Teamsters Union 249 includes a 3% increase in pay each year until the fourth year which stipulates a 3.5% increase. Some language was tweaked to standardize the agreement, said borough Manager Scot Fodi.
If an employee is subject to termination, they are granted a sit-down meeting with officials within 72 hours of a violation discovery to inform them of a possible loudermill hearing.
The agreement also calls for Embroidery From the Heart on Allegheny River Boulevard to create a package of uniforms, which workers would buy and maintain on their own.
Shift times for street department workers were adjusted to better fit around daylight savings time, Fodi said. The new agreement also stipulates workers must take a lunch break.
Juneteenth was added as a holiday, and the bereavement policy was adjusted. Employees will still retain three days but are not required to use them consecutively.
