Adults and children alike celebrated the Halloween season — spooky and otherwise — on both sides of the Allegheny River on Saturday.

A cool and sunny day made for a great time to be outdoors, whether at Oakmont’s Fall Festival or the Springdale Borough Police Department’s Trunk or Treat.

Blocks of Allegheny River Boulevard were closed for the fall festival sponsored by the Oakmont Chamber of Commerce. It began with a parade from which children quickly peeled out of step to stop and trick-or-treat at some of the various vendors that were giving away candy.

A costume parade also kicked off the start of the Trunk or Treat in Springdale, after which participants enjoyed food, music and treats in the parking lot outside the police station.
