Customers can feel at home shopping at One Brilliant in Aspinwall.

The women’s clothing and accessories boutique launched “One Brilliant Home,” a stylish line of products to spruce up an abode as well as leisure wear such as comfy bathrobes, soft pajamas and cozy slippers for those whose office is shared with the same place they live.

There are fluffy pillows, plush blankets, scented soaps and bath oils to create a comfortable atmosphere in the house where many people are spending a lot of time because of the coronavirus pandemic.

People are now dressing up their houses to create a welcoming space for not only their office, but also their stay-at-home life, said One Brilliant owner Erica Miller.

“We are all spending so much more time at home, but we still want to feel good about ourselves,” Miller said. “We added this home collection and hope it helps make things easier during what people are going through right now. They aren’t going many places, so we want to help them take care of themselves and their homes.”

Miller said one of the best sellers is the bathrobes. She can’t keep them in stock. They have fun sayings on the back such as “Happy Wife, Happy Life,” and “Good Karma Only.”

Pajamas and face masks say, “I Speak Fluent Italian. Gucci. Prada. Fendi. Versace.” Pillows have a picture of a perfume bottle while others are decorated with pom-poms.

Owners of retail businesses, like most other companies, have been struggling to survive. It’s been challenging, Miller said, from knowing what to order to be able to get product to adhering to all the state rules and regulations of social distancing and safety in the store.

The shop was closed from March 15 to May 15. Miller said she’s adjusted her apparel orders to accommodate a more casual lifestyle garments. She said it has also been more difficult to re-order items. Some designers didn’t make a fall line because of covid-19 and how hard it’s been to get fabric.

“Everyone is suffering because of the pandemic,” said Miller, who has had a store in Aspinwall for 17 years. “You have to change with the times. People are now living in their bedrooms and living rooms and dining rooms. They spend most of time in leisure wear, so our clothing selection has become more casual, too. We are still testing the waters to see how it is going to be received by our customers.”

Miller taking the initiative to adjust merchandise because of covid-19 demonstrates her ability to change, said Suzanne Mauro, retail consultant for the store.

“During times like this you have to think outside the box, and One Brilliant Home does just that,” Mauro said. “You don’t have to re-do your entire home. You can add a few pieces to update it and give it some pops of color. Or try a comfortable pair of pajamas. We all like to have fashion for our home. Add a fun accessory to make your home your own personal style.”
