An online fundraiser has been set up to help the three young daughters of a New Kensington man who was found shot to death in the parking lot of his apartment building.

The GoFundMe page was established for the children of James Michael Hayes, 31, who was found shot to death Dec. 9 in the parking lot behind Kensington Arms Apartments in the 400 block of 11th Street.

Hayes lived in a third-floor apartment there, according to an acquaintance.

No arrests have been made in connection with his shooting, which is being investigated by New Kensington police and the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office.

A vigil was held Tuesday near the site of the shooting to remember Hayes and call for witnesses to help authorities find his killer.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Kensington police at 724-339-7533.

Hayes’ daughters are Maelie, 8, Kaiyah, 7, and Sophia, 3.
