Democrat Melanie Pallone and Republican Mike Doyle emerged from a field of five candidates in Tuesday’s primary to earn a spot in November’s general election to claim the vacant district judge’s office serving Plum and Oakmont, according to unofficial election results.

With 100% of precincts reporting, Pallone, an attorney from Oakmont, won the Democratic nomination, with nearly 54% of the vote. Matt Feldmeier, a retired Plum police officer, was a distant second with 22%, followed by Ryan Schneiderlochner, 13%, and Margareth Sweeney, 10%.

Doyle, an insurance agent from Plum, won on the Republican ballot with 42% of the vote. Feldmeier was second with 28%, followed by Schneiderlochner, 23%, and Sweeney, 6%.

The leaders, Pallone and Doyle, each were endorsed by their respective parties and running on those ballots only. Pallone is a member of the Riverview School Board while Doyle is on Plum Council.

Feldmeier, Schneiderlochner and Sweeney were cross-filed and appeared on both party ballots.

Pallone thanked Democrats in Oakmont and Plum for supporting and encouraging her. “I also want to thank the voters of Oakmont and Plum for having faith in me to go on to November,” she said.

Doyle could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening.

The office has been vacant since Linda Zucco retired in 2021.
