Harrison commissioners are seeking a new manager for the township after Rich Hill resigned Monday.

Hill, part-time manager for about three years, submitted a letter to the board in which he cited the pursuit of new opportunities.

Hill could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

His resignation is effective March 11.

Applications for the manager’s position are being accepted. A full job description is available on the township’s website. Salary is dependent on the applicant’s experience.

Commissioner Jim Erb said he believes the vacancy will stir much interest. He said he would like to hire a full-time manager to head the community.

“That’s my hope,” Erb said.

Unlike in 2018, when the township paid a search committee to find a candidate for the job, commissioners will handle the applications this time, Erb said.

Harrison is a community with more than 10,000 residents. The job description notes that the position is a highly visible one in which the person hired will be responsible for managing 30 full-time employees who work in several municipal departments: finance, public safety, public works and zoning.

The manager also is responsible for handling a $6 million budget.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and five years of municipal management or experience in a related field.

Before Hill, who is an accountant, was hired in November 2018, he had been the township’s auditor. He also served previously on the Freeport Area School Board and as Freeport’s treasurer.

Hill was not paid a flat salary; he received $45 an hour.

The township budgeted $80,000 for the manager’s wages in recent years.

Anyone interested in applying for the job should submit a letter of interest, resume and salary history, along with three professional references, to township secretary Susan Motosicky, P.O. Box 376, Natrona Heights, PA 15065, or by email to smotosicky@harrisontwp-pa.gov.
