Plans for Route 356 and La Belle Vue Road in Allegheny Township include upgrading a busy intersection into a roundabout.

Parts of Route 356 and La Belle Vue Road in Allegheny Township are scheduled to close beginning Monday, PennDOT announced Wednesday.

Route 356, from Park Road to Melwood/Hyde Park Road, and La Belle Vue Road from Ashland Way to Route 356 are expected to be closed through the end of August.

Crews with Ligonier Construction will be performing work as part of a $7.7 million project to replace the bridge carrying Route 356 over Pine Run with a box culvert.

The project also includes a new roundabout to be built at Route 356 and La Belle Vue Road, the realignment of Route 356 and La Belle Vue Road, milling and pavement overlays, storm water maintenance and upgrades to the existing signal at Route 356 and Hyde Park Road.

The project is expected to be completed in May 2025.

Only local traffic will be allowed within the closure areas, PennDOT said.

The posted detour for Route 356 will use Route 66, Route 56 and Hyde Park Road. The detour for La Belle Vue Road will use Community Park Road, Hancock Avenue and Orr Avenue.
