Pastor of Aspinwall Presbyterian Church is retiring; last service set for Feb. 15
The Rev. Scott Hill is retiring after about 36 years in ministry, including the past decade leading Aspinwall Presbyterian Church.
His last service is set for 11 a.m. Feb. 15 at 299 Center Ave.
Many Aspinwall-area residents know Hill for his community initiatives such as Kids Bus Stop Ministry, Blessing of the Animals and prayers at the borough’s Memorial Day service.
Mayor Scott Zimmermann commended Hill’s years of service and delivered a proclamation to him at a council meeting Feb. 4.
The mayor highlighted Hill’s support for programs like BackPack for Hunger and as a board member of the Bread of Life Food Pantry.
Hill, an Oakmont resident, also led interfaith Bible studies at Roots of Faith in Sharpsburg and hosted interfaith forums that encouraged respectful dialogue among Jewish, Muslim and Christian neighbors.
A luncheon is planned for after Hill’s final service. At least 90 people have signed up as of Feb. 4.
