PennDOT prepares for Coxcomb Hill Road closure in Plum
PennDOT officials are preparing for a drainage improvement and shoulder reconstruction project in Plum that will close a 1-mile stretch of Coxcomb Hill Road beginning Monday, May 24.
Work between Kerr Road and Logans Ferry Road is anticipated to begin next week, according to PennDOT District 11 spokesman Steve Cowan.
The road will be fully closed between Kerr and Logans Ferry.
“We’ll be doing shoulder reconstructing and re-setting the outlet pipe on Coxcomb Hill,” he said.
Additional information, including posted detours and an anticipated end date, will be released by the department prior the start of construction.
The posted detour for traffic east of the closure will be:
• From Coxcomb Hill Road, turn onto Truck 56 (Second Street)
• Second Street becomes Industrial Boulevard
• Turn left onto Ninth Street and cross the C.L. Schmitt Bridge
• Turn left onto Freeport Road (Route 1001)
• Turn left onto Hulton Road and cross the Hulton Bridge
• Follow Hulton Road back to Coxcomb Hill Road
Traffic coming from the west will follow the same detour in the opposite direction.
The work is anticipated to last through June 7, PennDOT officials said.
