Pittsburgh Brewing Co. unveils new Mount Washington billboard design
Iron City Beer is back on top of the hill.
Pittsburgh Brewing Co., headquartered in East Deer, restored its billboard on Mount Washington to again advertise Iron City Beer. Its sister brand, I.C. Light, was on the billboard for seven months.
The new design emphasizes the importance of the billboard and brand, signifying the relationship between Pittsburgh and Iron City beer and their evolving connection throughout the years, the brewery said in a statement.
The new billboard was assembled Wednesday morning.
From 1938 to the mid-1950s, the Iron City Beer billboard overlooked the city’s skyline.
The brand and billboard returned in 2020 after a 66-year hiatus.
In the intervening years, advertisements for Bayer, Alcoa, Sprint and the American Flag Foundation appeared on the billboard.
In July, Pittsburgh Brewing Co. took down the Iron City Beer sign to give it a refresh because of wear and tear, according to the company.
“Bringing the billboard back to Iron City is a testament to how Iron City Beer transcends being much more than a beverage, leaving a lasting impact in the city of Pittsburgh,” the brewery said.
