Upper Burrell police charged a Pittsburgh man with robbery, saying he used a friend’s gun to rob the man in his own home, according to a criminal complaint.

Tezhon Delvon Thompson, 23, faces felony charges of robbery, burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and illegally possessing firearms. He was released from Westmoreland County Prison on Wednesday after posting $50,000 bond.

The alleged victim reported the incident to police Chief Kenneth Pate on Dec. 23, telling Pate he was the victim of an armed robbery that had taken place at his Loretta Lane house the previous night, the complaint said.

Police requested a warrant for Thompson’s arrest, but the circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear. Pate didn’t respond to messages regarding Thompson’s arrest.

The alleged victim said he and Thompson were at his house drinking alcohol and playing video games when the conversation turned to guns. The man told Thompson he had a pistol he was holding for his brother, who was out of state, and showed it to him, the complaint said.

The man told police he then placed the gun in a storage space under a television stand and the two resumed playing video games. The man said when he left the room to get another video game, Thompson retrieved the gun from the storage space and then pointed the gun at him when he returned to the room, the complaint said.

Thompson told the man he was going to take the gun, and warned the man not to interfere or call the police or else he would kill him in his own home, the complaint said. Thompson also told the man he knew where members of his family lived, police said.

After unsuccessfully trying to take the gun away from Thompson, the man told Thompson to take whatever he wanted and not to harm him, the complaint said.

Thompson took the gun, a safe box containing the man’s children’s birth certificates and other documents, and $400 cash, the complaint said. The safe box and the $400 had been in the same storage space as the gun, according to the alleged victim.

Pate said investigators determined Thompson had been driving a car that belonged to his girlfriend. The chief said Thompson’s driver’s license is under a DUI-related suspension, and Thompson is not allowed to possess a gun because he has prior convictions.
