Plum is set to get a touch sweeter this month.
That’s because Baked With Love, a bakery owned by Plum native Nickole Love Nader, is set to open sometime soon. Love Nader said the tentative opening date is Saturday, Feb. 28.
The bakery had previously operated out of Love Nader’s Plum home and then the same building as Jaden’s Catering in Monroeville.
Now, Baked With Love is set to reopen at 315 Unity-Trestle Road as part of the string of businesses in the Unity Plaza strip mall.
The business, which employs just over a dozen people, is in the final stages of renovations and inspections, Love Nader said.
“We’re just a couple steps away, but we’re getting there,” she said.
Love Nader is a self-taught baker who has been honing her craft for nearly 30 years. Baked With Love — a play on her maiden name — had been her side business until a few years ago, when she quit her corporate job to pursue the baked-goods business full time.
The bakery handles special orders and wedding cakes while serving typical bakery fare in the storefront, she said. Baked With Love is also known for gluten-free and dairy-free options, which Love Nader said has drawn people from throughout the region to her shop.
At the new location, she plans to open at 7 a.m. and offer more breakfast options, like doughnuts and coffee.
That’s in addition to other new items, such as gluten-free pies, she said.
“We’re always looking to expand on what people want,” Love Nader said.
Staci DelMastro runs Del’s Plum Creamery, a nearby ice cream shop in the plaza, as well as the neighboring chiropractic office.
She’s been at the plaza about 25 years total, she said, and she’s always happy to see new businesses.
“I love seeing the plaza busy,” DelMastro said.
Baked With Love, she said, will make a “great family addition” to the borough.
DelMastro said she’s looking forward to visiting the shop for coffee.
A Plum High School alumna, Love Nader said Baked With Love takes pride in high-quality, fresh goods.
Everything will be made on-site in the building’s modest kitchen, Love Nader said.
“We’re not mass produced,” she said. “Everything is handmade.”
