Plum Borough School District classes are expected to resume Tuesday as borough police continue to investigate a threat against the high school.

Schools were closed Monday after someone threatened to shoot up the high school.

District officials announced that evening they would be returning to a normal schedule following a discussion with police.

“The investigation into the potential threat has progressed and it was mutually determined that normal operating procedures for the district can resume,” according to a district release. “We appreciate our community’s patience and understanding as we vigorously work to maintain a safe environment for all of our students and staff.”

Plum police announced they have identified one or more juvenile suspects in connection with the incident.

Police Chief Lanny Conley said the parents and/or guardians have been informed, and the youths are not permitted on school grounds or school provided transportation. He did not release further details about the juveniles.

He said there will be an added police presence throughout the district this week to ensure safety.

The district also has its own police force with an armed officer at each school.

District officials commended borough police for their professionalism and quick action.

Authorities were notified of the threat Sunday via an anonymous Safe 2 Say report.
