Plum seeking resident input in survey on borough's future
Plum officials want to hear from residents as they consider the long-term future of the borough.
A recent survey made available to residents and taxpayers online at growingplumforward.com asks 23 questions about the most important issues and potential changes in Plum over the next decade.
It’s part of the first phase of the borough’s comprehensive plan, a wide-ranging review and set of implementable changes the local government will consider throughout the next several years, according to Plum Assistant Manager DJ Housley.
The survey was designed by Pashek+MTR, an architecture and community planning firm, he said.
During the initial phase of the plan, Housley said, the borough would “listen and learn” from community stakeholders and residents.
Once the borough considers the survey results in late October, it would enter its strategies and solutions phase as it considers a plan based on survey outcomes, Housley said.
“It’s basically setting the strategy based on public input,” he said.
Housley said the strategy phase would conclude before Plum Council considers its budget next year so it can take steps, such as applying for grants and reassigning borough funds, to begin implementing its plans.
Plum Manager David Soboslay cautioned that the the comprehensive plan has a yearslong outlook, meaning changes won’t happen overnight.
