Pat McAfee warms up before an Indianapolis Colts-Tennessee Titans game in 2016.

Former Indianapolis Colts punter, current TV star and Plum native Pat McAfee was thanked by the borough for another charitable act.

McAfee paid for every child age 17 and younger to have an all-day ride ticket at Plum’s SummerFest. According to borough manager Michael Thomas, the total cost was around $32,000 and paid for approximately 1,600 kids.

“We’re very proud to have him as one of our former residents and alum here at Plum High School,” Thomas said about McAfee, “but we just want people to know that’s the kind of commitment Plum people have to our community.”

The donation, acknowledged during borough council’s July 10 meeting, isn’t McAfee’s first to the area he grew up in, nor does it come close to his largest. He donated $230,000 to Plum Borough School District last year for new athletic equipment and supplies.

Prior to that, he donated $2 million to the district’s athletic department in 2021, about a week before he signed a $120 million deal with FanDuel. He also donated approximately $36,000 to help save Plum business Nesbit’s Lanes after the business suffered during the pandemic.

“Nesbit’s is a staple of the Plum community,” McAfee said via email at the time. “I’ve had the privilege of bowling there, hanging out there, and using their parking lot in times of need in high school.

“I appreciate what Nesbit’s has done for Plum. I was excited and thankful for the opportunity to help. Great work by everybody for coming together to help out an important and legendary small business. I hope to get a chance to get back there much sooner than later.”

McAfee left FanDuel for ESPN this year, as his media career continues to take off since he retired from the NFL after an eight-year career with the Colts.
