Two people were hospitalized early Thursday after the vehicle in which they were traveling rolled over during a police pursuit in Washington Township, according to investigators.
Township police tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Hancock Avenue just south of Oklahoma Borough at 1:16 a.m., according to a news release. The vehicle didn’t stop and was pursued by officers for about two miles into Vandergrift, police said.
The vehicle overturned around a bend in the road and police said they deployed a Taser as the driver ran from the vehicle. Police identified the driver as Francis P. Evans, 48, of Apollo. His passenger, Abbey J. Hudspath, 19, was able to get out of the vehicle.
Evans and Hudspath were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Evans was charged Thursday with fleeing from police, drug possession, resisting arrest, conspiracy and summary vehicle code violations. No charges had been filed against Hudspath.
