An Allegheny Township man is accused by police of putting a tracking and recording device in a woman’s SUV to listen to her conversations and follow her movements, according to court papers.

Kerry Richard Jackson, 35, is charged with intercepting communications, possession of a device for intercepting communications, criminal use of a communication facility and stalking.

The woman told Washington Township police on Feb. 18 that she was confronted by Jackson after having a private telephone conversation with a friend in her SUV, according to court papers. Police said they retrieved the GPS device and audio recorder from underneath her driver’s seat.

Jackson told police he put the device there when he made repairs to the SUV a few weeks earlier, according to court papers. The pair previously had a relationship and Jackson told investigators he wanted to fix it by listening to her conversations, court papers said.

A summons has been issued. Jackson did not have an attorney listed in online court papers. A phone number for him could not be located. A March 23 preliminary hearing is set.
