Police: Arnold man's home searched after 2 heroin buys within days
A 33-year-old Arnold man is in the Westmoreland County Prison after allegedly selling heroin to undercover agents twice over two weeks.
Arnold police charged Steffon Ballard, 33, on Tuesday. He was being held on $100,000 bail.
According to court documents, agents from the state Attorney General’s Office and Arnold police carried out a search warrant Monday at Ballard’s home in the 1800 block of Kenneth Avenue. Ballard was found in his third-floor bedroom.
Police said agents made two separate controlled buys of heroin from Ballard within the last 14 days. Police said they found some of the money used in one of those buys during the search.
In addition to cash, police said they found 47 packets of heroin in the house, and that Ballard lead agents to the majority of it. Police said they also found 22 grams of marijuana, a scale and a cell phone.
Police said they found a pistol magazine, a Glock 23 gun box, and a .40- caliber full metal jacket ammunition in the house. Police said Ballard gave consent for them to search his vehicle, where they found a fully loaded Glock 23 magazine.
Ballard is facing several felony and misdemeanor drug charges.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17.
