A West Deer man faces a felony drug charge after telling police he woke his neighbors at 2 a.m. because he was being attacked by white demons with black eyes, authorities said.

Donald A. Cowfer Jr., 34, of Tarentum-Culmerville Road was charged with felony possession of drugs with the intent to deliver along with criminal mischief and drug possession in connection with the Feb. 7 incident.

He faces a preliminary hearing May 4 before District Judge Tom Swan.

Police said they were dispatched to the apartment house for a domestic dispute shortly after 2 a.m. They found Cowfer outside the door of his upstairs neighbor’s unit, on the hallway floor, naked and covered with a blanket, according to a criminal complaint.

The neighbor also was in the hallway. Cowfer had his arms “wrapped” around the man’s legs and was saying “don’t leave me,” according to police.

Cowfer had “white chunky stuff” at the corner of his mouth and his lips appeared “whitish in color,” police wrote in the complaint.

The couple told police they and their children awoke to the sound of Cowfer “yelling and breaking things” in his downstairs apartment, according to the complaint.

The man told police he heard footsteps running up the stairs toward his apartment and tackled a man in the dark hallway who later was identified as Cowfer, the complaint said.

Cowfer repeatedly warned police not to enter his apartment, telling an officer, “You don’t want to go in there. … I was fighting the demons. They were everywhere. They were kicking my (expletive),” the complaint said.

Officers said they found items scattered in the yard outside Cowfer’s apartment, the screen door glass shattered and furniture overturned inside.

Police said two bags of suspected crystal meth were confiscated from a bedroom along with drug paraphernalia and a scale.
