A Tarentum man was arrested Saturday after police said he shouted obscenities at a wedding party as he drove past them and then got out of his vehicle and went after them.

Borough police charged Brian S. Henning Jr., 32, with resisting arrest, driving under the influence, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. at Corbet Street and East 9th Avenue, police said. BridgePoint Church is located there. About 30 people were in the wedding party.

In a criminal complaint filed against Henning, police said the group reported that Henning drove around the block several times, calling them profanity-laced names before stopping his vehicle in the street.

Police said Henning had no shoes on when he got out of his vehicle and came toward the group in an aggressive manner, trying to fight any person that stood in front of him. Members of the group held him down on the sidewalk until police arrived, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said Henning smelled of alcohol and showed signs of being highly intoxicated on alcohol or other drugs.

At the police station, police said Henning acted aggressively toward officers and resisted being handcuffed. Once in a holding cell, police said Henning was difficult with officers and paramedics who were called to check on minor injuries including a scrape on his hip and a scratched lip. Police said he threatened to harm or kill officers and medics.

Henning refused to submit to a blood test, according to the criminal complaint.

A representative of BridgePoint Church could not be reached for comment Monday.

Henning was arraigned just after midnight Sunday and released without bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4 before District Judge Carolyn Bengel.
