Two people were shot Sunday afternoon on Market Street in Leechburg, police said.

Leechburg police Chief Jason Schaeffer would not provide further details Sunday, and would not comment on the extent of the injuries.

Police spent several hours investigating.

The shooting was reported shortly after 3 p.m., according to Armstrong County 911, and the street remained cordoned off at 8 p.m.

Gilpin, Kiski and state police assisted, and Armstrong County sent its mobile command unit.

Lifelong Leechburg resident Michael Nolf, 61, witnessed the shooting.

Nolf saw a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt run across Market Street and heard several “pops,” he said.

After Nolf heard the shots, he saw the man in the sweashirt drop to the ground, he said.
