New Kensington police charged a felon with illegal possession of a firearm after seeing a video of him pointing a pistol at a woman during an argument, authorities say.

Don Levon Graves, 57, of Main St., New Kensington, was charged with felony counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and lesser charges in connection with the incident at the Parnassus Manor high-rise.

Police noted Graves is not permitted to own a firearm because he pleaded guilty to felony burglary charges in 2002, 2005 and 2007 and unlawful restraint in 2018.

He also is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Investigators said a woman reported she was in her apartment Dec. 17 and heard two women arguing in the hallway outside.

She said she peeked into the hall and saw Graves, who lives in the building, pull a handgun out of bag slung across his shoulder and point it at one of the women, according to Graves’ arrest papers.

Police said they obtained security video from the hallway that shows Graves get out of the elevator on the fifth floor, walk toward two women and “interject himself” into their argument, police said.

They said one of the women approached Graves and began arguing with him before he got the gun from his bag and aimed it at her, according to the arrest papers.

The woman was identified by police and gave them a written statement about what happened, along with identifying Graves as the man who pointed the gun at her.

Graves was released after posting a $75,000 bond through a New Kensington bail agency. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on March 3.
