One man is dead after a shooting in New Kensington early Saturday morning, a spokeswoman for the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office said.
County detectives were called to assist New Kensington police outside the Elks Club on Third Avenue around 3:30 a.m., said Melanie Jones, spokeswoman for District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli.
The man died from a gunshot wound, and the incident is being investigated as a homicide, Jones said.
Later Saturday morning, police with dogs followed a blood trail from behind the Elks to near the Pioneer Apartments on 10th street, but no one was found, according to police on scene.
No arrests had been made as of late Saturday morning, she said.
New Kensington police referred questions to the district attorney’s office.
Authorities were investigating, which Jones said included reviewing video.
