After clearing two parking spaces in front of his house free from snow, a Springdale man assaulted his neighbor for parking his truck in one of them, according to police.

David Mann, 38, is facing charges including simple assault, strangulation and disorderly conduct. As of yesterday, he was arrested and awaiting a preliminary hearing.

The dispute began when Mann went to his neighbor’s house and told him he had just cleared out the parking spaces, police said. He asked if he was really going to park in one. Mann told police that his neighbor swung at him when he answered the front door.

At that point, Mann pulled his neighbor out of the house and began fighting with him, according to a criminal complaint.

Mann offered to show police his Ring doorbell camera that captured a portion of the fight which revealed Mann on top of his neighbor as the neighbor pleaded for him to get off, the complaint said.

In the complaint, police said the neighbor had visible marks on his face and left arm from the fight.

The neighbor offered a different perspective. He told police that Mann was banging on his front door and front window screaming at him to move his truck. The neighbor told police that he opened his front door to tell Mann to stop the banging, and that Mann pulled him outside and started punching and hitting him, according to the complaint.

Losing his glasses in the snow from slipping when Mann pulled him off his porch, the neighbor told police he tried protecting his face from the punches, according to the complaint.

Sergeant Dayoub of the Springdale Police Borough advised Mann and his neighbor to keep their distance and call 911 if there are any further issues. Dayoub also “advised Mann regardless if he cleaned the spaces or not it was a public street and anyone could park there,” as stated in the complaint.

Dayoub said that Mann was the aggressor in the situation.
