Two vehicles, both red Jeep Cherokees, were struck by gunfire in Arnold and New Kensington Tuesday night, New Kensington police Chief Bob Deringer said Thursday.

Deringer said there was one shooting incident in New Kensington Tuesday in the 400 block of Fifth Avenue. A later call for a vehicle shot up in the 400 block of Fourth Avenue was found to have happened in the 1300 block of Third Avenue in Arnold before the shooting incident in New Kensington.

“We believe the red Jeep Cherokee that was shot up in the 400 block of Fifth Avenue was mistaken for the one from a block over on Fourth Avenue, which we believe was the intended target and had been involved in some kind of previous incident in Arnold,” Deringer said.

No one was hurt.

No arrests had been made as of Thursday, and police were continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information about the incidents can contact New Kensington police at 724-339-7534.
