Police: Washington Township man wanted for raping unconscious 13-year-old
A Washington Township man is accused of raping an unconscious 13-year-old girl last summer, according to police.
Police said Jarod David Altman, 18, gave the girl vodka and sexually assaulted her after she lost consciousness, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.
Police filed charges against Altman on Monday. He faces charges of raping an unconscious victim, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors. He remained at large Tuesday afternoon.
Police received a report last August of a possible sexual assault along railroad tracks between Allegheny Township and East Vandergrift.
Police accompanied the girl, the girl’s mother and a 15-year-old witness to the train tracks to find the location of the alleged incident, according to the criminal complaint.
The witness identified the scene of the alleged assault, and police said they found various items of evidence there, including a used condom that was later submitted for DNA testing, the complaint said.
The alleged victim told police that Altman initiated a social media conversation with her several days before the assault, the complaint said. Altman suggested they get together to drink despite the fact he was aware of her age, the complaint said.
The girl and the witness met Altman in a park, and the three walked along the railroad tracks. They eventually stopped at a rock pile, where Altman gave the girl vodka that she admitted to drinking, the complaint said.
The girl told police the last thing she remembers was sitting on the ground next to the rock pile. When she woke up, she showed signs of sexual assault, the complaint said.
In a subsequent interview, the witness told police Altman provided them with marijuana, which the witness and Altman smoked as they walked along the railroad tracks.
The witness told police Altman gave the girl vodka, which she drank before passing out, the complaint said. The witness said they saw Altman apparently having sex with the girl, the complaint said.
Police said DNA evidence obtained from both the girl and Altman was compared to evidence found at the scene, and tests showed both of their DNA was present.
