Highlands School District issued a two-hour delay for its elementary school in Tarentum on Tuesday.

According to the district, a crash late Monday evening caused a power outage. Power was to be restored by mid-morning Tuesday.

The delay affected only elementary students and staff.

Tarentum police Chief William Vakulick said the crash happened around 9:40 p.m. Monday, when a tractor-trailer tried to turn left onto Lock Street from East 10th Avenue. No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries were reported.

Two poles and power lines were taken down, he said.

As of about 6 a.m. Tuesday, traffic heading toward Harrison was restricted on East 10th, and Lock Street was closed between East 10th and East 9th avenues.
