Proposed budget shows no tax increase in West Deer
West Deer officials have not proposed a tax increase in their roughly $9.2 million budget, said township Manager Daniel Mator.
“It is just a product of a board of supervisors and a municipal staff understanding the finances of the township, being able to project future expenditures and to plan accordingly,” Mator said. “We have been smartly managing the growth of the township so as to not allow the expenditures to outgrow the increasing revenue.”
West Deer’s budget marks a 2.2% increase over the $9 million budget passed for 2022.
The most notable expenditures would come from the police department’s $2.2 million budget, a 4.7% increase over its current budget, and the public works department’s $2.7 million budget.
The proposed budget for the public works department is a 17.6% decrease from the current budget, which came in at $3.2 million.
The West Deer Board of Supervisors will vote on the budget at 7 p.m. Dec. 21 in the township building, 109 E. Union Road.
