Public tribute planned for late Brackenridge police Chief Justin McIntire
A tribute to late Brackenridge police Chief Justin McIntire will be held Jan. 2, three years after he was shot and killed in the line of duty.
McIntire was ambushed during a hunt for a fugitive on Third Avenue in Brackenridge, just four doors from the house where he grew up.
His mother, Lori, posted to Facebook that a brief ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. near the borough building on Morgan Street.
“We would like to invite everyone to join us in a Celebration of Life,” she posted.
“Afterwards, we extend an invite to all who come to join us at the Praha in Tarentum. Let’s warm up together with a toast in his memory.”
She thanked the public for the support and prayers for her family in the years after McIntire’s death. The borough recently installed a monument to McIntire outside the borough building.
