An Allegheny Township photographer is doing her part to help Alle-Kiski Valley restaurants affected by coronavirus-related restrictions.
Amy Capiross-Watterson is offering to take free professional photos of a restaurant’s popular takeout menu items to encourage people to order takeout amid the latest round of covid-19 restrictions, which went into effect on Saturday and will last through 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4.
Capiross-Watterson is the owner of Amy Cap Photography, a photography business based in Allegheny Township.
She made a public post on her personal Facebook page Friday encouraging restaurants to reach out to her if they would like to have photos taken.
As of Sunday afternoon, two Alle-Kiski Valley restaurants had signed up: Magill’s Grill & Mogie’s Irish Pub in Lower Burrell and botL in New Kensington.
“My goal is to help 10 restaurants,” Capiross-Watterson told the Tribune-Review on Sunday. “I’d be flattered if it was more than that, like essentially if this carried on. But let’s hope that it doesn’t go past Jan. 4 ‘cause a lot of people are going to be in trouble.”
Capiross-Watterson said good quality, high resolution photos can go a long way when it comes to selling items.
The restaurants can use the photos for their takeout menus and on their websites.
“I think that if you show a good picture of something, of a good product, you’ll help sell it,” Capiross-Watterson said. “I just, as a small business (owner), want to use what I have to help the small businesses make it through this shut down. There’s no other reason. I think pictures are powerful. And I think it will help them sell takeout.”
Sean Watson is one of three partners who owns botL, which opened in October. He said he is appreciative of what Capiross-Watterson is doing. Her photos will definitely help the bar and restaurant sell more food.
“It means more than a lot to be honest,” Watson said. “Aside from the effectiveness of it — which it will be there — it’s that it’s in her head that she wants to help people. She’s not doing this just to try and make money. She’s really trying to make a difference even if it’s one place.”
Capiross-Watterson will be available for takeout menu item photography sessions on Tuesday, Dec. 15 and Wednesday, Dec. 16. She would like to potentially schedule a third session date. That date has yet to be determined.
To schedule a session contact her by phone at 724-681-3059; by visiting her website; by directly messaging her on Facebook at Amy Cap Photography; or by directly messaging her on Instagram at @amycapphotography.
