Roads set to close in Allegheny Township, West Newton; reopening delayed in Mt. Pleasant Township
Road closures are scheduled to begin next week in Allegheny Township and West Newton for maintenance and improvement projects.
According to PennDOT, weather permitting, a section of White Cloud Road in Allegheny Township will close beginning Monday for roadway reconstruction and drainage work.
The closure will be in effect between Leechburg Road and Garvers Ferry Road and is expected to continue until Wednesday, Nov. 24. Traffic will be detoured along the Bonfire Shortcut and Leechburg roads.
There will be a short-term restriction on Leechburg Road, with traffic controlled by flaggers.
West Newton
In West Newton, CSX crews are slated to perform maintenance on a Main Street railroad crossing between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday.
While the work is underway, Main Street (Route 136) will be closed between Water and First streets.
A marked detour will be in place using Main, Route 31, Interstate 70 and Route 51.
Mt. Pleasant Township
Closure of a section of Route 982 in Mt. Pleasant Township, originally expected to end Oct. 29, has been extended until Nov. 11.
The road is closed between Route 130 and Tall Pine Road to allow installation of a pipe with a 60-inch diameter, replacing a 48-inch pipe.
A detour is in place using Routes 130 and 981 and Kecksburg Road.
According to PennDOT officials, the Route 982 closure was to have begun on Sept. 20. But the closure was delayed by a week, causing the change in the projected reopening date.
