One man was killed and another seriously hurt in a high-speed crash Monday afternoon on Route 28 in Harrison, according to state police.
Robert Mark Walters, 68, of Fawn was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Walters was a passenger in a Chevrolet Corvette driven by Fred Fattman, 76, of Tarentum, state police said. Fattman suffered serious injuries and was in critical condition when taken by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
The crash, reported just after 1 p.m. near the Freeport/Millerstown exit in Harrison, had the southbound lanes of the highway shut down well into Monday evening.
State police said Fattman was driving south in the left lane of Route 28 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and went into the left berm.
It caused the car to go into a clockwise spin toward the right shoulder, where it hit an embankment and overturned.
